Topic: Addiction to Smoking & Drinking

Question:

Tom,

I am in the midst of quitting smoking....and possibly some other things (peri-menopause). All I felt and sometimes now feel like doing is cry...I felt very anxious. This was a very pronounced feeling a few days into smoking cessation. I have started taking St. John's wort. I would like to take other things to speed this along but I have no idea how much of anything or how to combine vitamins, minerals. Where can I learn about this stuff? I am also taking a good multi vitamin at night.

Thanks for your attention.....Cynthia

Answer:

Hi Cynthia,

I feel eminently qualified to answer this issue! I smoked for 33 years and drank compulsively for 29 years. There is abundant evidence that nicotine is the most addictive DRUG in America. When you stop supplying the brain with this OPIATE, you suffer withdrawal symptoms like irritability, nervousness, mood swings, hunger pangs, crying jags, depression and most importantly - the psychological addiction. There are several excellent natural opiods that NATURALLY CURB the cravings IN THE BRAIN by naturally producing NEUROTRANSMITTERS.
